Citrix has released its “receiver” for Chrome OS as a tech preview in the Chrome Web Store. The Tech Preview version of Receiver for Chrome OS, available from Google’s Chrome Web Store enables Chromebook users to get access to their corporate data, applications and desktops from their virtualized XenApp and XenDesktop environments.
Note: Citrix Receiver does not run on Chrome on Windows or Mac.
This however requires Chrome OS related stuff installed on your company’s server. IT Admins can download the files from http://www.citrix.com/chromeos.
This should be a big leap for Chrome OS’ enterprise dreams. I am sure a lot more companies will feel safe to switch to Chrome OS and Chromebooks now.
What you can do with Citrix Receiver:
• Access your applications and Windows desktop at your office, home, or on the road.
• Keep your information stored on your provider’s secure servers, not on your device.
• Move from desktop to tablet to smartphone.
Welcome, Citrix! Do not be surprised if you find someone using Excel or Photoshop on a Chromebook!
