The best part about iphone 3.0 firmware is the ability to email more than one iPhone photo. Gone are the days where we had to select one photo painstakingly at a time! Anyways, here’s a relatively “old” tip that I’ve been meaning to share with those who don’t know about it yet–how to email full size iPhone 2G/3G/3GS photos.

How to Email Full Size iPhone 2G/3G/3GS Photos

Essentially, you will be sharing your photos using copy and paste instead of the default “Share” option in Photos. Here are some instructions for those people who need hand holding:

1. Launch Photos. Click on Camera Roll.
2. Click on the “arrow” in the bottom left corner. Highlight images you want to the full size image of. Click Copy.
3. Exit Photos and launch Mail. Compose a new email. Click Paste. Email.

Voila! Your images will now be in full 2048×1536 resolution (on the iphone 3GS) instead of the old 800×600 resolution. A quick test shows the file sizes below:

Picture emailed via “Share”: 133KB
Picture emailed via Copy and Paste: 1.2MB

Twitter Hacks -Beware

July 20th, 2009 No comments
Google Buzz

The ease with which the entire process was carried out should make us worry about the security of our own digital accounts. Though against a determined hacker there is not much one can do, there are still some simple things that one must always follow.

* Never use the same password for more than one service — It is tempting and many people in fact repeat passwords and this is not just about recycling passwords from defunct services (though that is risky too), but using the same password for multiple, active services like email clients, social networking accounts, etc. It is the worst thing you can do.

* Create strong passwords – How do you know your password is strong enough? Well, there is a strength meter on most services that tests the password. It is not completely reliable but at least it gives a fair idea. A trick would be using alphanumeric characters and symbols like ‘@,$,&, etc.” Using your wife’s, kid’s, parent’s name is a big no-no. So is using the name of your favorite band, movie, etc. Keep the password impersonal and random.

* Do not make a list of your passwords – It is something we all know but it is still surprising how many people have the habit of saving their passwords on their desktop or, even worse, in their draft folders.

* Be careful of how much information you give out online
– Almost everyone is on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and a host of other social networking sites. As hard as we may try, most of us inadvertently end up divulging a little too much information about ourselves when online. A smart hacker can make use of this — what happened with Twitter is a case in point.

Google Moon( Earth to Moon)

Google Earth Lands on the Moon

One small step for Google Earth is one giant step for moon buffs. Google has updated its popular mapping software Google Earth 5.0 with a complete map of the moon that lets you explore craters, historic sites, and human artifacts. You can even view the moon in the style of Google Street View, checking out astronauts as they wander the moon’s surface.

The moon is viewable in Google Earth 5.0, available here. Just click the install link on the page, then run the Google Earth software once installation is complete. Once the program is open, look for the icon with the ringed planet on the top toolbar, and select “Moon” from the drop-down list.

Readers with long memories may have seen this coming in 2005, when Google provided a map of six Apollo mission landing spots. That same year, NASA and Google agreed to collaborate on a variety of fronts. “Imagine having a wide selection of images from the Apollo space mission at your fingertips whenever you want it,” Google CEO Eric Schmidt said at the time.

The chatter resumed earlier this month, when Google announced a media event at which Buzz Aldrin would speak. That event was scheduled for today, and Aldrin was indeed on hand to help announce that the moon is viewable in Google Earth.

The feature is more than just a few photos of a lifeless gray sphere. Aldrin and Apollo 17 astronaut Jack Schmitt give virtual guided tours, and there are rover concepts to view along with previously unreleased video footage, historic maps, human artifacts (try finding the American flag, perhaps?), and “street view”-style panoramic photos. The base map of the atlas itself is comprised of a lunar terrain data set by Kaguya LALT.

All of this stems from the 40th anniversary of man’s first moonwalk, which occurred on July 20, 1969. Last week, the Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum began retelling the mission in full.

Convert PPTX To PDF With a free MS Add-In

Many people like to convert Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt or .pptx) presentations to Adobe (.pdf) documents before posting them on the web or sending them through email. Why? Two main reasons:

  • Smaller. Kilobyte for kilobyte, a .pdf is generally smaller and more portable that a .ppt file.
  • More accessible. Most people on the web can easily open a .pdf file within their browsers. Conversely, a .ppt or .pptx file requires a separate program that many may not have (or want).

Make it easy on yourself. If you use Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, you can save your .pptx or .ppt files as a .pdf with a few clicks — but only if you download and install the free “Save as PDF add-in” from Microsoft. Read more…

Downgrade iPhone 3G Baseband 5.08.01 to 4.26.08

July 13th, 2009 No comments
Google Buzz

Good news for the peoples who accidentally upgraded their iPhone 3G to OS 3.1 beta. iPhone OS 3.1 Beta updates your current baseband to 5.08.01which is unlockable at the moment because Ultrasn0w is not supported by the latest baseband. Bigboss released Fyzzyband 3.1b1-1. Fuzzyband Downgrader is a safer iPhone 3G  Baseband Downgrader as this one detects your baseband and bootloader version and does the wright thing first. More general 3GFuzzyband Downgrader detects your bootloader and baseband and downgrade it with a simple click. Fuzzyband Downgrader available in ICY and Cydia just refresh your sources and search n install the application.

latest version of Fuzzyband Downgrader has two features Upgrades / Downgrades baseband to 4.26.08 for unlocking with the ultrasn0w tool released by the iPhone Dev-Team. If you are on a lower baseband than 4.26.08 Upgrading will put the 4.26.08 baseband from 3.0 on the modem so that ultrasn0w may be installed from Cydia. Downgrading works from any version greater than 4.26.08 (currently 5.08.01 is the newest version available, found in 3.1 beta 1). It will put your baseband back at version 4.26.08 which is the current unlockable version by Ultrasn0w.

Downgrading only works on phones that have the 05.08 (5.8) Bootloader from the factory. This is a very limited number of phones that were released in the first few weeks of the 3G production cycle. If you do not know your bootloader then you can run Fuzzyband and it will report the version number for you. In my case i have bootloader 5.09 but my baseband is 4.26.08 and i m very concerned about baseband updates. So after the OS 3.1 final release I’ll wait for the Dev team release.
