How to Call Yahoo or Windows Messenger From Google Talk

July 27th, 2010 No comments
Google Buzz
Yahoo! Messenger and MSN (Windows Live) Messenger users can chat with each other easily without changing clients. Similarly, Google is working with AOL to allow users of Google Talk connect with their AIM buddies. (Skype?)
Now consider a completely different scenario – how do Google Talk users talk to their friends who are using Windows Live or Yahoo! Messenger ?

Here’s a a possible solution to make voice-over IP calls between Google Talk, MSN/Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger for free.
1. If you are on Google Talk and want to voice chat with someone on Yahoo!, add service@gtalk2voip.com as your Gtalk friend and then send the following message to your new buddy:
CALL xyz@yahoo.com [use your friends Yahoo! ID instead of xyz]
2. If you are on Yahoo! Messenger and want to connect with a Google Talk user, add gtalk2voip@yahoo.com to your Yahoo! buddy list and send the following message:
CALL xyz@gmail.com [use your friends Google Talk ID instead of xyz]
For more details visit GTalk2VoIP and their blog. Thanks Nash and Ash.
There are rumors that a new version of Windows Live Version is in the works that will connect to Google Talk and AOL Messenger but this is likely to support only text chat, not voice calls.

Basic Understanding to identify type of RAM

March 31st, 2010 No comments
Google Buzz

Computer RAM is the best known form of your computer uses to temporarily store and access data. From the time you turn on your computer, your CPU is constantly using memory (RAM). Every time something is opened or loaded, it gets placed into RAM. This means it is put into a temporary storage area so the CPU can more easily access the information. From there it becomes a continuous cycle where the CPU requests data from

RAM, processes it and then writes new data back to RAM. In most computers, this transfer of data between CPU and RAM happens millions of times every second. When an application is closed, the application itself, along with all its accompanying files is deleted from ram. This is to make sure there is room for new data, so unless the changed files are saved to a permanent storage device, they will be lost.

Types of Computer RAM

RAM Type: Pins: Usage:
SDRAM 168 Typically only used in older and slower computers.
RDRAM 184 Only used in certain Pentium 4’s with certain Intel chipsets.
DDR 184 Faster version of SD RAM used in Pentium 4’s and Athlon
DDR2 240 Newer version of DDR RAM with higher clock frequencies
DDR3 240 Newer version of DDR2 with higher clock frequencies

Free Mind Mapping Software

March 25th, 2010 No comments
Google Buzz

FreeMind is a premier free mind-mapping software written in Java. The recent development has hopefully turned it into high productivity tool. We are proud that the operation and navigation of FreeMind is faster than that of MindManager because of one-click “fold / unfold” and “follow link” operations.

So you want to write a completely new metaphysics? Why don’t you use FreeMind? You have a tool at hand that remarkably resembles the tray slips of Robert Pirsig, described in his sequel to Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance called Lila. Do you want to refactor your essays in a similar way you would refactor software? Or do you want to keep personal knowledge base, which is easy to manage? Why don’t you try FreeMind? Do you want to prioritizeknow where you are, where you’ve been and where you are heading, as Stephen Covey would advise you? Have you tried FreeMind to keep track of all the things that are needed for that?

Create Custom theme for most of the mobile models

Google Buzz

Ricky has made an easter theme and put it up for all to download. The thing about the theme is that it has not been created using the usual theme creation tools i.e. no having to mess around with Java tools or having to install an SDK. The theme has been made using the brand new beta of OwnSkin’s Professional Theme Creator. It is a 100% online theme creation application for not just S60 smartphones but a host of other S40 devices and devices from other manufacturers such as LG and Sony Ericsson too.

I am in the process of creating a custom theme for myself and I’ll share a few thoughts about the service. Read more…

A cluttered CV

CVs where people simply put all possible information and expect recruiters to scroll through them to find out relevant details. The only destiny these CVs have is getting the ‘delete’ key pressed and landing up in the trash bins.

HR people get hundreds of applications for a single position. They don’t have the time to sift through your CV and see if each candidate suits their purpose. So, it is your job to make your CV as user-friendly, so that they can find the information they are looking for in a single glance.

At the heart of Pivot are “Collections.” They combine large groups of similar items on the Internet, so we can begin viewing the relationships between individual pieces of information in a new way. By visualizing hidden patterns, Pivot enables users to discover new insights while interacting with thousands of things at once.

Pivot makes it easier to interact with massive amounts of data in ways that are powerful, informative, and fun. We tried to step back and design an interaction model that accommodates the complexity and scale of information rather than the traditional structure of the Web.
